The AI Governance Practitioner Program: Practitioner Awards

Credentials that prove capability, and build your career.

Most online courses end with a multiple-choice test and a digital certificate. This is different.

The AI Career Pro credential pathway is designed to demonstrate real capability.  To build your confidence and career. Every course can be completed self-paced for a Certificate of Completion. But for those who want formal recognition of their capability, there's something more significant to earn: a Practitioner Award, assessed through graded practical assignment and interview.

And for those who want to demonstrate mastery across multiple domains, there's the Master Practitioner Award. This is achieved only through excellence in multiple specialties, graded assignment and interview.

As a Master Practitioner, you have demonstrated capability. You can be eligible to participate in our teaching, coaching and growing affiliate and referral network, in order to gain experience and advance your career. We work with you to turn your mastery into a rewarding, meaningful career.

Certificate of Completion

For Practitioners

What it involves
Complete any course in the program at your own pace. Work through the videos, engage with the exercises, and pass the topic quizzes. Your certificate is issued automatically on completion.
Completion options available
Self-paced only. The Certificate of Completion is available to every student as part of their course — no application required.
The cost
Included in the course at no additional fee.

For Employers

What it confirms
This candidate has completed a practitioner-built curriculum in AI governance — working through case studies, practical exercises, and topic assessments designed by professionals who have done the work at Microsoft and Amazon. It confirms structured, serious engagement with the field.
How the Practitioner was assessed
Course completion is verified through topic quizzes and practical exercises embedded throughout the program. Certificates are issued through a verified digital credentialing system and are independently confirmable.
What to expect
A candidate holding a Certificate of Completion has been exposed to the frameworks, tools, and real-world case studies that form the foundation of applied AI governance practice.

For Practitioners

What it involves
Complete the course, then pass a formal assessment — a graded assignment followed by a 30-minute interview with a Master Practitioner.
Completion options available
Two pathways. Complete the course self-paced and choose to take the standalone assessment when you're ready. Or complete the course through a Practitioner Cohort, where the assessment is included and you work through the material alongside peers with direct access to a Master Practitioner.

Each course takes between 50 and 70 hours to complete. You should expect preparation for the assessment to take 5-10 hours.
The cost
$299 for the standalone assessment, in addition to your course fee if the course was taken self-paced.
Or, included in a Practitioner Cohort fee.

For Employers

What it confirms
This candidate's capability has been independently assessed - not just their course completion. They submitted a graded assignment and passed a 30-minute interview conducted by a Master Practitioner. The award confirms they can apply what they've learned in practice.
How the Practitioner was assessed
Each Practitioner Award is earned through a formal assessment process that included a graded assignment followed by a structured interview against a defined capability standard. Each specialty has a different focus appropriate to that specialty but all are scenario and skill-based, rather than simply knowledge tests. Assessment is conducted by a Master Practitioner. Results are pass or fail.
What to expect
A Practitioner Award holder has demonstrated applied capability in their nominated governance domain - whether Governance Foundations or one of the six specialty areas. They have been tested on their ability to do the work, not just describe it.

Master Practitioner Award

For Practitioners

What it involves
Complete the Governance Foundations Practitioner Award and a minimum of two Specialty Practitioner Awards. Then complete a substantial cross-domain assignment and pass a one-hour interview with the program creator, James Kavanagh. The pathway opens by invitation following a formal application.

You should expect to spend 20 to 40 hours preparing for the final assessment.
Completion options available
The Master Practitioner assessment is standalone - there is no cohort for this pathway. You bring the Practitioner Awards you've already earned and apply when you're ready. We can provide you with guidance as to your readiness.
The cost
$499 for the assessment

For Employers

What it confirms
This is the program's highest level of formal recognition. The candidate has demonstrated verified capability across multiple governance domains — not depth in one area, but breadth across the field. The award is earned through a rigorous cross-domain assessment and is not available by course completion alone.
How the Practitioner was assessed
The Master Practitioner pathway requires the Governance Foundations Practitioner Award, a minimum of two Specialty Practitioner Awards, a substantial cross-domain assignment, and a one-hour interview with AI Career Pro founder and the Principal Master Practitioner Assessor, James Kavanagh. Entry is by formal application. Not every applicant passes.
What to expect
A Master Practitioner has been tested on their ability to govern AI across multiple domains and contexts. They bring both the credentials and the verified, practical capability to lead governance work inside your organization.
