Build AI governance practitioner capability
with the Foundation Track (self-paced or in a practitioner cohort)
Four courses built from real AI governance experience. The Foundation Track builds the cross-domain capability every AI governance practitioner needs: how AI systems work and where they fail, how to design governance that functions under pressure, and how to write policies that people can actually follow. Wherever you're starting from, this is where real AI governance capability begins.

What you'll be able to do.
The Foundation Track is built around outcomes, not just content. By the time you finish, you'll have practical capability across the core dimensions of AI governance work.
Understand how AI systems work
Identify the technologies and the real risks, as well as how poor data, model drift and bias translate into real-world harm.
Build governance infrastructure
Design roles, accountability structures, and operating models that actually function across disciplines within your organisation.
Map and inventory your AI systems
Know what AI is being used across your organisation, where it sits in the lifecycle, and what governance each system requires.
Embed oversight across the AI lifecycle
Using a mechanism-based approach, design governance processes that sense change, detect emerging harm, and respond.
Write policies people can actually follow
Develop governance, risk management, and use policies, built from templates grounded in real implementation.
Engage in every governance conversation
Operate confidently with engineers, lawyers, risk professionals, compliance teams, and leadership.
Meet your Guide
James Kavanagh
James spent two decades building governance programs at Microsoft and Amazon — not advising on them, doing them. The AI Governance Practitioner Program is built on that experience. Every case study, every mechanism, every policy template comes from real implementation work at scale. When James teaches governance, he's teaching what he built and tested himself.

The Four Courses of the Foundation Track
Two ways to complete the Foundation Track.
The curriculum is the same either way. What differs is the pace, the structure, and how much support you want around you while you do the learn.
Having completed the Foundation Track of the AI Governance Practitioner Program, I now have a structured way to approach everything from building AI inventories, organisational mechanisms, incident response procedures, AI policy design and more — not as theory, but in practice. The program gives you a range of templates, tools and skills to build and operationalise AI governance programs.
