Why learn in a practitioner cohort?
Live sessions & guided feedback
Every fortnight, you join James Kavanagh in a live virtual session with up to 15 practitioners. Between sessions, you have direct email access to James to work through questions and challenges as they arise.
Structured peer interactions
You learn alongside practitioners at a similar stage who are working across different organisations and contexts. Their challenges expand your understanding of what AI governance involves beyond your own experience .
The Practitioner Award, AI Governance Foundations
Successful completion of a graded assessment earns you the Practitioner Award, Foundations. It validates that your cross-domain governance capability has been tested and confirmed.
Foundation Track
The Practitioner Cohort program is structured around the four Foundation Track courses. Before each live virtual session, you work through the relevant course for that fortnight - so when you arrive you're ready to discuss, debate and build your AI governance capability.
Also includes access to the AIGP Exam Preparation Course by AI Career Pro, for if you choose to pursue the AIGP credential.
How it works
Eight weeks. A peer cohort. Guided & supported.
Welcome Call
Before the program begins, your cohort meets for the first time. James introduces the program, sets expectations for the eight weeks ahead, and you get to know the practitioners you'll be working alongside. It's the foundation for everything that follows.
Live Sessions
Four live virtual sessions over eight weeks — one per course, every fortnight. Each session is your opportunity to bring questions, challenges, and real work directly to James and your peers. With a maximum of 15 participants, every session is a genuine conversation, not a webinar.
Between Sessions
The learning doesn't stop between live sessions. You have direct email access to James throughout the program, and a private community group where your cohort discusses, debates, and works through challenges together — with James participating alongside you.
Assessment
A final assignment is submitted to James for grading after the eight-week program concludes. It tests whether you can apply your cross-domain AI governance capability to a realistic scenario — not just recall what you've learned. Successful completion earns you the Practitioner Award, AI Governance Foundations.

Your Guide
James Kavanagh
James spent two decades building governance programs at Microsoft and Amazon where none existed. The AI Governance Practitioner Program is built on that experience. Every case study, every mechanism, every policy template comes from real implementation work at scale. When James teaches governance, he's teaching what he built and tested himself.

Three cohorts. Limited places.

Cohort 1: Enrolment now open.
Starting 16 June 2026
Is this the right program for you?
The Practitioner Cohort is for practitioners who are ready to do the work.
Most people who choose the Cohort over self-paced have made a deliberate decision. They know that structured accountability produces better outcomes than good intentions. They want to bring real governance challenges to someone who has solved them before — not work through them alone. They're serious enough about AI governance to invest in the credential that proves it, not just the courses that cover it.
If that's you, the Cohort is the right choice. If you'd prefer to learn at your own pace without the commitment of a fixed program, the Self-Paced Foundation Track is a strong alternative — and the credential pathway will still be here when you're ready.
